1208-1219: Picking up where Rob left off

We're evacuating to this site as the new xkcd-sucks blog, because Rob has decided to stop posting.

Tell your cuddlefish friends. We can make this happen.

And without further ado...

1208 - harmless nerd porn. C+

1209 - Makes no sense until you read the caption. D

1210 - This is Randall being cynical, hypocritical and preachy all at the same time. D-

1211 - I agree with what he's saying. It's just that it comes across so preachy. C-

1212 - It annoys me that the distances are not to scale. Alt text saved it. C-

1213 - I think I know what joke Randall's trying to make, but it's difficult to understand. D

1214 - I've played GeoGuessr, and this never happens. F

1215 -  Maybe before we rush to adopt xkcd we should consider the consequences of blithely giving this webcomic such a central position in our lives. D+

1216 - Alt text is better than the actual comic. B-

1217 - This is a good joke for once, and actually told well. A

1218 - I've seen LotR, but the joke fell flat because it took me too long to figure out what was going on. So Randall, your pandering comic even fails at pandering. F

1219 - No Randall, I can not imagine something about something and make it funnier. F

    For shame.

    3. I was just joking. In fact I have lot of confidence in Jon Levi, and would take a bullet for him if I had to.

    4. I once took a bullet for him. I went to a shop and stole one bullet then gave it to Jon Levi. That is a joke. It is a pun. My friends tell me I am funny and should be a stand up comedian so I think that will be my goal in life.

  4. Mr. Levi,
You seem to be a more discerning critic, but, will your quality reviews actually prosper in this, a time of milquetoast dross and anti-intellectualism?
Like faux-kitten above, I too would take a bullet for you, even if I didn't have to! Yes, I'm that 'ard!

  5. Jon Levi, you have seen LotR have you? That is not good, you should have read it you illiterate dog. It's a very easy read and should only take a couple of afternoons if you skip the songs.

    1. Wait, there is a book version of Lord of the Rings?

  6. I love you Jon Levi. Well maybe not literally but my rhetorical feelings are very strong indeed. The reviews are more or less in line with what I think at least compared to Rob's default F's. I wish you posted the alt-text too though.

I think you were too lenient on 1211. Yes we get what he says, but it's still stupid. It's like saying Highway to Hell is a blues song, or "amour" a Latin word -- or we're bacteria. I think we all know what we mean by "dinosaurs", and that's not birds.

  8. I'm looking forward to the rebirth of this blog. Are you going to be doing forum bingo again?

    1. Maybe. Forum Bingo takes time. So I might just pick my favourite/worst comic out of the week's three, and do that one.

  10. I'm sorry, but is nerd such a bad thing? And, exactly why are you so critical of Rob, jealousy?

    1. Hear, hear. Your criticisms are so low-grade... one can tell you're not intellectually capable of this work. For example," I've played GeoGuessr, and this never happens. F". An F, for humor. Obviously, you couldn't think of anything better, could you? And, " I think I know what joke Randall's trying to make, but it's difficult to understand. D" Basing your whole grade off of your own understanding, you who can't even bother to give better criticism to something you claim to hate so much, who won't even make a mental effort to understand.
If you haters would try thinking out your criticisms, I'm sure many would agree with you, but the fact of the matter is that you don't even have anything you can hate about.
Honestly, look at yourselves, commentors... Sheeple, I proclaim you.
In a nut shell: please make worthy criticism of xkcd.

    2. Haha, you just copied Rob's commenting design, didn't you? If you really were any better, you'd change it or something, right?

    3. I should not have to justify myself to you, Anonymous at 12:49. Anyone's opinion is valid. It's called free speech. If you're offended by it, go start your own xkcd-hate/fan/whatever-blog. And I'm sure all your opinions will be far superior.

    4. Jon: suggest you at least explain a little what you think the joke is on 1213 (I would say 1218 also, but I don't really care about lotr), because I looked this up and still have no idea what he was trying to do there. Clue us in.

  11. 1215 summarises everything that's wrong with nerds. It's really why I left software engineering: dorks can't think beyond their own simple little world, so think it's wrong to do so. In other words, autism.

1216 fucking sucks, and anyone who says otherwise is a malodorous jackalope.
